As always we will be limiting the number of teams participating to just 35 so everyone can see their film up on the big screen.

The entry fee is just $50 for IFP Members and just $65 for non-members.

The winner of the competition receives $250.

The Top 5 films move on to the finals of the year long 48 - Hour Film Championship which gives you a chance at the $1,000 Grand Prize. In addition, the audience favorite of the July 29 screening will move into the finals.

All films submitted will be screened on the big screen on July 29.

All films submitted will be considered for acceptance into either the Phoenix Film Festival or International Horror and Sci-Fi Film Festival. This is the longest running competition of its type in Phoenix. Everyone loves a good tradition. The Phoenix Film Foundation is a non-profit organization and all proceeds go towards supporting local filmmakers.

You may know the routine, but here is a reminder of the details: The competition will kick off at 6:00PM on Friday, July 17. That evening you will receive: The LINE you must use in the film on screen. Information on the PROP that one character must handle during the film (no background props). You will get to choose the genre to use from our list of GENRES, that your film must be made in. Once we kick off the competition you will have 48 hours to complete your film. Then on Sunday, July 19, 48 hours after the kickoff, approximately at 6:00PM, the teams will turn in their films to the Phoenix Film Foundation offices. The film should be in mini-dv or DVD. ~ "WIFE SWAP", ABC'S HIT PRIMETIME SHOW, SEEKS SUPERSTAR FAMILIES OF INDEPENDENT FILMMAKERS! ~

The premise of Wife Swap is that one parent from each household swaps places for a week to experience how another family lives.  It is an incredible family experience and opportunity to both learn and teach different family values.

Wife Swap is a fascinating story of what happens when two couples see themselves and their partners in a whole new light. The New York Post says, "It should be called 'Life Swap' because it's not just the wives who learn something here. It's the families."

Potential families can live anywhere in the United States, but we ask that families applying for the show consist of two parents and have at least one child, age 7 or older, living at home. Specifically, I'm looking for families of independent film makers!  If you, along with your family, are hustling in the independent film scene, then I want to talk to you! To submit for the show please email a family photo and description to: gaby.wifeswap@gmail.com.

Each family that tapes an episode of Wife Swap receives a financial honorarium as compensation for their time.   Anyone who refers a family that appears on our program receives $1000 as a 'thank you’ from us.

If you are a family unit (two parents and children between the ages of 7 and 17) who love an adventure, I would love to hear from you today! Also, please feel free to send this casting along to any families you feel would be appropriate!

~ LOOKING FOR SMALL-TOWN FACTORIES TO MAKE A BIG IMPACT ~

Tricon Films & Television Casting for a New TV Series

(Toronto - September 17, 2008) - Tricon Films & Television is looking for factories planning major renovations or overhauls to be showcased on national television for a documentary show.

Factory Renovations will feature factories across North America and the UK that are going through a major renovation or overhaul, giving viewers an inside look at factory renovation, how new machines and processes work and showcasing how these factories are having a positive impact on their towns.  The factories will be portrayed as the unsung heroes of the community, while the towns will have the chance to be put on the map and show what they have to offer.

This is an opportunity for companies to feature their products, promote their brand name, and represent their organization as an industry leader and innovator - all on national television.

The hourlong program will highlight factories planning to implement a major change within the next two years, whether to become more environmentally friendly, increase output capacity, create new products or improve employee satisfaction.  Factory Renovations shows viewers how an elite team of "factory over-haulers" are bringing old and idle factories from the industrial revolution to the 21st century, while giving the audience an inside look at seldom seen manufacturing techniques.

Casting for Factory Renovations is currently underway.  The producers are seeking factories that are planning a large renovation, including new machinery, within the next two years and already have all the funding necessary for their project.  The bigger the overhaul and the bigger the positive impact on the community, the better the show!  Interested factory owners can email camille@triconfilms.com

~ SECTION 181 EXTENDED FOR ONE YEAR AND AMENDED ~

"Special Expensing Rules for Certain Film and Television Productions. Under current law, a producer can elect to take a single-year deduction of up to $15 million in production costs incurred in the U.S. If the production costs are over $15 million, this deduction does not apply. The maximum deduction is increased to $20 million if the costs are significantly incurred in economically depressed areas. No other depreciation or amortization is allowed for a production for which this deduction is taken. The provision expires December 31, 2008. The proposal would extend the provision to the end of 2009. The proposal would also allow expensing of the first $15 million ($20 million if the costs are significantly incurred in economically depressed areas), regardless of the ultimate cost of the film. The proposal is effective for taxable years beginning after December 31, 2007."

The good news is that you will get the benefit of the first $15 Million (or $20 Million) of a loss regardless of how large the film's budget is. Also, the benefits extend to any film or television project that began production on or after January 1, 2008.

In the past, your Section 199 taxable income deductions as to dollars received on a film was limited to 50% of the investor's W-2 wages or the equivalent of same. Section 199 was amended to remove that 50% limit. There is no limit moving forward. The taxable income deduction is 6% from years 2007 to 2010 and 9% from 2010 forward.

In addition, Puerto Rico is once again allowed to take advantage of Section 199: "Deduction Allowable with Respect to Income Attributable to Domestic Production Activities in Puerto Rico. The bill extends a provision allowing a section 199 domestic production activities deduction for activities in Puerto Rico. This provision expired on December 31, 2007. The proposal would extend the provision to the end of 2009. The proposal is effective for tax years beginning after December 31, 2007."
