The Arizona Department of Commerce Energy Office today announced $450,000 in grants is now available for the Arizona Biofuel Conversion Program. This is a portion of the $1.8 million available over a three-year period of the State Energy Plan, funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. It is available to commercial motor fuel dispensing sites to encourage the use of E85 or biodiesel biofuels throughout Arizona.
These highly competitive grants are available for capital expenses to convert or install biofuel compatible fuel storage tanks, fuel dispensers, blending equipment and other components for the purpose of dispensing E85 or biodiesel biofuels. Directly associated expenses, such as fees to clean existing storage tanks and labor for installation of tanks, fuel lines and dispensers are also eligible projects. The grants are for $30,000 or 40% of the project cost, whichever is less.
Commerce will host a pre-proposal workshop as part of its application process to provide information on the grants as well as provide guidance in filling out the application. Applicants are strongly encouraged to attend the workshop.
