ABOUT THE ARIZONA COMMERCE AUTHORITY

The Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) is the state's leading economic development organization with a streamlined mission to grow and strengthen Arizona’s economy. The ACA uses a three-pronged approach to advance the overall economy: recruit, grow, create – recruit out-of-state companies to expand their operations in Arizona; work with existing companies to grow their business in Arizona and beyond; and partner with entrepreneurs and companies large and small to create new jobs and businesses in targeted industries.

The ACA is overseen by a public-private sector board composed of Arizona leaders in business and policy. The board is overseen by Arizona Governor Doug Ducey and co-chaired by Brian Mueller, President and CEO of Grand Canyon University. Joining them on the board is a group of prestigious private-sector business leaders, elected officials and university presidents.

The ACA’s executive management team drives the organization’s day-to-day operations, ensuring it maintains focus on the recruitment of quality companies and jobs to the state of Arizona. This team brings together the best and brightest in economic development, management and communications.

According to top indicators, small businesses are still operating in a purgatory between recession and recovery.

This is why the Job Creators Network has developed their Bring Small Businesses Back Campaign. JCN is educating small business owners around the country and legislators in Congress about the struggles of overtaxation, overregulation, and lack of access to credit/capital.

The IBM Watson AI XPRIZE is a $5 million competition, challenging teams globally, to develop and demonstrate how humans can collaborate with powerful AI technologies to tackle the world’s grand challenges. The prize aims to accelerate adoption of AI technologies, and spark creative, innovative and audacious demonstrations of the technology that are truly scalable and solve societal grand challenges. To encourage innovation in any form, the competition is an open challenge in AI. Rather than set a single, universal goal for all teams, this competition will invite teams to each declare their own goal and solution to a grand challenge. The IBM Watson AI XPRIZE is a four-year competition with annual milestone competitions in 2017, 2018, and 2019. The top three finalists will compete for the Grand Prize at TED 2020.

We are creating a process for aspiring intrapreneurs to hone their skills through intensive practice, so that when opportunities arise they know they are sharp enough to slice through whatever comes at’em. we call it Sharpn.

We have developed an event called the SPARK which gives aspiring intrapreneurs the tools and skills needed to validate ideas. We then provide them with an introduction to systems thinking. We also help them build communication skills and realize the importance of leadership. The most important part of the day is showing them how to overcome the fear of failure while forging a strong positive mindset.
