American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 Information The Energy Office is a division of the Arizona Department of Commerce and is receiving $129 million as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. This funding will be distributed in staggered amounts by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to the Energy Office and will be administered over a three-year period.

(Energy Star) Appliance Rebate Program In 2009, DOE awarded $6.2 million to the Arizona Department of Commerce Energy Office to implement Arizona’s Appliance Rebate Program.
Energy Emergency Preparedness In 2009, DOE awarded $796,410 to the Arizona Department of Commerce Energy Office to improve the state's energy emergency preparedness plans and ensure quick recovery and restoration from any energy supply disruptions.
The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) is an existing program that will be expanded with $57 million in ARRA funding. This program provides weatherization services to Arizonans based on income. The WAP has an established local service delivery network comprised of non-profit or governmental organizations that provides services in specific geographic areas of Arizona.
The State Energy Program (SEP) is an existing program that will be expanded with $55.4 million in ARRA funding. Guidelines or partial guidelines have been developed for six programs within the SEP. The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program (EECBG) was funded for the first time by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. It will help Arizona cities and towns reduce total energy use, fossil fuel emissions and improve energy efficiency in EECBG projects. Arizona was awarded $9,593,500 to fund projects for local governments with a population of 35,000 or less (according to 2007 Census).
