The U.S. Census Bureau publishes demographic information including total population and demographic characteristics through its Population Estimates Program (PEP) and various survey programs. Select pieces of information for Arizona and its counties are presented in the “DEMOGRAPHICS” section below. Please note that, for methodological and other reasons, population estimates released by OEO, PEP, and Census Bureau survey programs are not identical.

July 1 population estimates for the State of Arizona and its counties and incorporated places are published by December 15th each year. The latest estimates that are currently available are for July 1, 2022.
Population projections are published for the state and counties in years ending with 2, 5, and 8. Population projections for sub-county areas are released in the years immediately following the publication of state and county projections.
