Modern Studios Opens State-of-the-Art Facility in Tucson

TUCSON, AZ (January 23, 2019)  Modern Studios, Arizona’s state-of-the-art production facility and full-service advertising agency, is now open in Tucson, bringing new capabilities to Southern Arizona in production, creative content and marketing. Owner Laura Levin’s vision is to bring the kind of studio and technology normally seen in Los Angeles, to Southern Arizona.

“Arizona remains a top choice for business, and the film industry is no exception,” said Governor Doug Ducey. “Our state offers filmmakers a low-regulation, low-tax and cost-effective alternative to California - and Modern Studios will be a great asset to our industry.”

The 12,000 square foot facility is designed to make Tucson a national and regional hub for video and audio production, innovative creative commercials and film, one-stop digital and traditional media campaigns and synergistic brand development.

“The establishment of Modern Studios, with the most technologically advanced equipment in the industry, further positions Arizona as a premier destination for the film industry,” said Sandra Watson, President & CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority. “Our Film & Digital Media Program continues to succeed in attracting productions to our state, and this studio will enhance those efforts.”

A truly state-of-the-art center, Modern Studios owns a MRMC BOLT Cinebot, a cinematic robot. The BOLT is the one of a handful in the U.S. The high-speed camera robot can move from standstill to high-speed motion and back again in fractions of a second. The Bolt arm coupled with the Phantom Flex 4K camera can literally follow objects falling and capture slow-motion video at 1,000 frames per second. This will provide unique and exceptional images for use in commercials, films, videos and even stock footage. In mid-2019 Modern Studios will be receiving the MRMC Milo motion control rig. The Milo’s versatility, portability and high accuracy make it the ideal choice for live action shooting and macro tabletop work.

The facility houses two studios measuring 5,000 and 2,000 square feet, which makes it the largest in the state of Arizona. Both studios are equipped with world-class LED lighting from DMG Lumière by Rosco and both have Pro Cyc cyclorama wall systems, A full-service creative agency, Modern Studios provides one-stop shopping for companies’ marketing needs on local, regional and national levels. Marketing experts and a full creative team provide advertising campaigns with synergistic brand content, multi-screen targeting and exceptional creative.

“With the opening of Modern Studios, Southern Arizona now has a production facility that meets Hollywood's professional standards and is ready to regain its position as a significant production destination for the industry,” said Matthew Earl Jones, Director of the Film and Digital Media Program at the Arizona Commerce Authority.

Modern Studios is also a facility that can be rented for various film productions. Amenities include video and audio production rooms containing top of the line software and equipment, a 7’x 10’ soundproof WhisperRoom, a color correction suite with DaVinci Resolve, workspaces, and conference room to name a few.
