Arizona Commerce Authority Leads Workforce-Focused Delegation Visit To Taiwan

Group of more than 50 Arizona business and community leaders to meet with Taiwan businesses, tour TSMC workforce training center, and attend SEMICON Taiwan

PHOENIX, AZ (September 5, 2025) –
Amid rapid economic momentum and record FDI activity between Arizona and Taiwan, the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) is leading a delegation of more than 50 Arizona business, academia, and community leaders on an economic trade visit to Taiwan. The group delegation visit, which is taking place September 8 to September 10, 2025, features a full schedule including meetings with Taiwan-based businesses, attending SEMICON Taiwan, and advancing workforce development partnerships and collaboration opportunities in areas such as AI, semiconductors, and more.

Delegation participants include Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority; Danny Seiden, President and CEO of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry; education leaders from Arizona universities and community colleges; and community leaders representing economic development, municipalities and utility companies.

On Monday, the delegation will visit the TSMC Newcomer Training Center (NTC) located at Fab 15 in Central Taiwan Science Park in Taichung. The Newcomer Training Center is the world’s first large-scale professional training facility in the semiconductor industry, combining production-grade equipment and immersive technologies.

On Tuesday, the delegation will attend the SEMICON Nexus Forum hosted by SEMI and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Taiwan’s largest industry-oriented R&D organization. The SEMICON Nexus Forum will bring together government, industry, academia and research leaders to discuss semiconductor and AI chip advancements, and workforce development expansion opportunities.

Also on Tuesday, the ACA will host an “Arizona Investment Day Forum” that will showcase Arizona’s workforce and business advantages. On Tuesday evening, the delegation will attend a reception hosted by the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) with AIT representatives, Taiwan-based business leaders, government entities, and industry associations. On Wednesday, the delegation will wrap up the visit with participation at SEMICON Taiwan, which is expected to convene over 1,200 leading semiconductor and technology companies.

“Driven by shared values of innovation, economic growth, and workforce excellence, Arizona's partnership with Taiwan is one of the most important collaborations happening anywhere in the world," said Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority. “This delegation will strengthen ties with Taiwan’s business, education, and community leaders, advancing collaboration in high-tech sectors like semiconductors and AI, while spotlighting Arizona’s unique strengths. We’re grateful to the Arizona-Taiwan Trade & Investment Office and all are delegation partners helping elevate Arizona’s global competitiveness.”

“Arizona’s partnership with Taiwan continues to pay dividends for our economy and our workforce. From semiconductors to AI, the collaboration between our two regions is helping create jobs, attract investment, and strengthen Arizona’s position as a global leader in advanced manufacturing,” said Danny Seiden, President and CEO of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry. “This visit is another important step in deepening those ties and reinforcing Arizona’s leadership in the global competition for high-tech jobs and industry.”

The visit marks the ACA’s third delegation trip to Taiwan in 2025, previously joining Governor Hobbs as part of an Arizona delegation visit in March, where the delegation met with TSMC CEO C.C. Wei and executives at the company’s headquarters in Hsinchu.

The ACA opened the Arizona-Taiwan Trade & Investment Office in 2023. Located in Taipei, the office serves as a platform to increase economic collaboration and foreign direct investment opportunities between Arizona and Taiwan.
