Governor Hobbs Celebrates Grand Opening Of Future48 Workforce Accelerator In Kingman
KINGMAN, AZ (September 24, 2025) – Today, Governor Katie Hobbs joined Mohave College, community members, business leaders, and elected officials at the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the Mohave College Advanced Manufacturing Training Center (AMTC), a Future48 Workforce Accelerator at the Kingman Airport Industrial Park in Kingman, Arizona. The event also featured leaders from the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA), who partnered with the College on launching the Future48 Workforce Accelerator.
Governor Hobbs praised the college’s leadership and emphasized the importance of the AMTC for Arizona’s economy.
“When we first announced these facilities in 2023, our vision was to build a statewide network of workforce training centers. Today’s grand opening brings that vision to life—delivering hands-on skills training to prepare students in northwestern Arizona for careers in advanced manufacturing,” said Governor Katie Hobbs. “I’m grateful to Mohave College for their leadership, and to the Arizona Commerce Authority and our industry partners for their collaboration to launch this state-of-the-art training facility.”
Mohave College Interim President Dr. Tim Culver also expressed his excitement about the impact of the center. “The AMTC represents a giant step forward in workforce training for northwestern Arizona. We are excited to partner with local business and industry to ensure our students graduate with the skills employers need, while also strengthening the economic foundation of our region,” said Dr. Culver.
The new 36,000-square-foot AMTC is already serving students and is ready to add more for training in high-demand careers that include in welding, HVAC, industrial maintenance, robotics, computer-aided drafting, and manufacturing fundamentals, just to name a few. Over 65 students are currently enrolled in the center. Event attendees had the opportunity to tour the advanced design labs and collaborative innovation spaces while learning how the center will strengthen the regional and statewide workforce.
“We’re incredibly excited to celebrate the grand opening of this Future48 Workforce Accelerator, marking a major milestone for Kingman and Arizona,” said Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority. “The Accelerator advances Arizona’s best-in-the-nation workforce readiness while creating more pathways to meaningful work for Arizonans. We’re grateful to Governor Hobbs, Mohave College and all our industry partners for their support and collaboration."
The Advanced Manufacturing Training Center is part of Arizona’s Future48 Workforce Accelerator network, a collaboration between the state, the Arizona Commerce Authority, and community colleges to provide targeted workforce training aligned with industry needs.
Industry partners on the Accelerator include NUCOR Steel, Air Control HVAC, Phoenix Truck Driving, Progressive Pipe Fabricators, Shelves West, and the Kingman and Mohave Manufacturing Association (KAMMA).
With this milestone, Mohave College continues to expand opportunities for students while fueling economic prosperity across Mohave County and the state of Arizona.
