Made In Arizona: Manufacturing Month 2023 Kicks Off

Arizona's unparalleled manufacturing environment continues to attract significant investments and create jobs

PHOENIX, AZ (October 3, 2023) – As Manufacturing Month 2023 kicks off, Arizona continues to attract industry leaders in high-growth industries. With the state’s premier business environment, growing talent pipeline and nation-leading investments, Arizona’s economic momentum shows no signs of slowing down.

Within the past year, Arizona has won expansion and attraction manufacturing projects statewide, representing combined billions in capital investment and thousands of projected new jobs. Significant wins from industries including semiconductors, battery, renewable energy and more have furthered Arizona’s position as a manufacturing powerhouse.

Manufacturing attraction and expansion projects were announced statewide including Tucson, Phoenix, Queen Creek, Coolidge, Buckeye, Camp Verde, Goodyear, Mesa, Chandler, Peoria, Pima, Yuma County and El Mirage.

“Arizona’s reputation as an advanced manufacturing powerhouse means more good-paying jobs and high-value industries in our state,” said Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority. “This Manufacturing Month, we are proud to celebrate Arizona’s manufacturers large and small and continue to support their growth and success.”

Programs to support local manufacturers
The ACA prioritizes providing support for small and local manufacturers through programs such as the Arizona Manufacturing Extension Partnership, which lends support to small-to-mid-sized manufacturers through operational assistance, training and more, the Small Business Bootcamp, and Small Business Digital Academy.

Arizona’s economic success was recognized again this year by Area Development Magazine for high-quality job creation and capital investment. In addition, TSMC’s $40 billion investment to build another semiconductor fab in Phoenix was named one of 10 “Manufacturing Projects of the Year”  in June 2023. Arizona was also awarded its third consecutive Gold Shovel Award in June, the fifth in the last seven years.
