TSMC Arizona and U.S. Department of Commerce Announce Up To $6.6 Billion In Proposed CHIPS Act Direct Funding

PHOENIX, AZ (April 8, 2024) TSMC announced that the U.S. Department of Commerce and TSMC Arizona have signed preliminary terms for up to $6.6 billion in direct funding under the CHIPS and Science Act. TSMC also announced plans to build a third fab at TSMC Arizona, leveraging the most advanced semiconductor process technology in the United States, bringing TSMC’s total investment to more than $65 billion and creating 6,000 new jobs.

LG Energy Solution’s $5.5 Billion Stand-Alone Battery Manufacturing Complex In Queen Creek Well Underway

QUEEN CREEK, AZ (April 3, 2024) – The construction of a major battery manufacturing complex in Queen Creek, Arizona, announced by LG Energy Solution last year, is on track to be completed in two years with the first round of hiring expected to begin at the end of this year. The company provided progress updates on its $5.5 billion stand-alone facility during a stakeholder meeting today at Combs High School in San Tan Valley near the complex location. With steel beams now being placed at the site, the complex is on track to be completed in  2026 and creating several thousand new jobs.

Intel and U.S. Department of Commerce Announce $8.5 Billion In Proposed Direct Funding Through The CHIPS Act

CHANDLER, AZ (March 20, 2024) — The Biden-Harris Administration announced that Intel and the U.S. Department of Commerce have signed a preliminary memorandum of terms (PMT) for up to $8.5 billion in direct funding to Intel for commercial semiconductor projects under the CHIPS and Science Act. The proposed funding would help advance Intel’s semiconductor manufacturing and research and development projects at its sites in Arizona, New Mexico, Ohio and Oregon. The CHIPS Act funding will support Intel’s $34.5 billion investment in Arizona to date, supporting an additional 3,000 new jobs

FrameTec Announces Construction Of Building Component Manufacturing Facility In Casa Grande

CASA GRANDE, AZ (March 13, 2024) – FrameTec, a pioneering building component manufacturing plant and building framing services company, announced today plans to build a truss and wall panel manufacturing facility in Casa Grande, Arizona. YUMA COUNTY, AZ (March 29, 2023) – EVelution Energy, a U.S. electric vehicle (EV) battery materials processing company, announced plans to build a solar-powered carbon neutral cobalt sulfate production facility in Yuma County, Arizona. This facility, the first of its kind in the U.S., is expected to commence construction in 2024, be fully operational by 2026, and create approximately 300 construction jobs and 60 full-time jobs once operational. Governor Ducey, TSMC Mark Major Milestone at the Most Technologically Advanced Chip Factory in the U.S.

PHOENIX, AZ (December 6, 2022) — Governor Doug Ducey and TSMC celebrated the first piece of equipment added to one of the most technologically advanced chip factories in the world. If the years-long effort to bring the high-tech chip manufacturing operation to Arizona wasn’t already the “deal of the decade,” TSMC’s announcement that it would add a second fab, invest a total of $40 billion and create 4,500 jobs at its Arizona operations certainly seals the deal. The facility will utilize TSMC’s 4-nanometer technology for semiconductor wafer fabrication. The second, newly announced fab, will be equipped for 3 nanometer production by 2026. There will be a combined annual capacity of 600,000 wafers a year.

American Battery Factory Selects Tucson As Site For Its First Battery Cell Gigafactory In United States

TUCSON, AZ (December 6, 2022) — Arizona Governor Doug Ducey and Paul Charles, President and CEO of American Battery Factory (ABF), today announced that Tucson, Arizona has been selected as the site for the first in a planned series of battery cell gigafactories based in the United States. The site will serve as ABF’s official headquarters and will be the country’s largest gigafactory for the production of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells at 2 million square feet. An estimated $1.2 billion capital investment, the new facility will create 300 jobs in the first phase of the factory’s opening, scaling up to 1,000 cumulative jobs.

CASA GRANDE, AZ (July 26, 2022) – Solvay has announced its plans to invest in a new facility to produce electronic grade hydrogen peroxide (eH2O2) in Casa Grande, Arizona, to supply the growing U.S. semiconductor manufacturing market.
