Cosmetic Laser/Radiofrequency (RF)

The Bureau of Radiation Control’s (BRC) nonionizing radiation program promotes public health and worker safety through its regulatory oversight of the medical, cosmetic and industrial industries utilizing nonionizing radiation devices including, but not limited to, Class 3B and Class 4 lasers, radiofrequency (RF) units, and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) devices. The Bureau of Special Licensing licenses individuals to be a Certified Laser Technician using Class 3B or 4 lasers that are Class II surgical devices. Please note, some procedures performed with Class II surgical devices require a licensed practitioner, for example, a physician, to be on site at the facility. (22)
